About the Opportunity:
We are seeking a National Business Manager with proven experience to drive the designated portfolio. This is a permanent, full time position based in our Auckland Newmarket office. This individual reports into the Head of Sales for New Zealand. The National Business Manager will provide strategic direction whilst being responsible for daily trading and customer.
By bringing together an understanding of the key customers; Field, Sales, Marketing, Supply & Category and KC’s business drivers, this is an opportunity for an experienced specialist to make a difference.
Accountabilities:
- Achieve Net Sales Value, margins and value market share targets within agreed trade spend levels for all categories whilst leading & coaching your 4 direct reports to deliver the full Foodstuffs budgeted Net Sales Value and value market share.
- Contribute to the development of national category plans through active participation with the Category Development team by providing expert input and recommendations regarding key customer and channel dynamics.
- Achieve business objectives through the development, motivation and retention of employees & ensure superior leadership, training, coaching & development of team.
- Lead the development & customisation of national strategies and category plans into account-specific 12 monthly Business & Promotional plans, 3-5 year Strategic Customer & Channel plans and KCNZ or Trade Initiated programs.
- Accountable for directing & achieving `best practice’ implementation of national trade & category management strategies and marketing driven activities in the development and implementation of National Customer Plans.
- Responsible for the monitoring and reporting of compliance to plan and provide feedback to key stakeholders as to the success or failure of strategies that have been implemented per plan.
- Achieve and maintain competitive advantage for KCNZ through the continuing development of strong trading relationships with key Customers. Ensure that collaborative planning and communication processes are developed to facilitate future trading requirements of both KCNZ and its Customers.
- Accountable for the negotiation and implementation of Trading Terms agreements.
- Lead initiatives relating to Supply Chain, Finance, Field Operations and Marketing and coordinate liaison between all key stakeholders within both KCNZ and the external customers, to maximise top-line sales opportunities and maintain optimal business relationships with KCNZ’s key trading partners.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Tertiary degree in Business, Marketing or Commerce.
- Minimum 5 years sales experience in consumer products, with in depth experience in the Grocery channel with a minimum 3 years’ experience in Customer Management.
- Ambition to lead a team of 4 direct reports & work effectively cross functionally.
- A thorough understanding of retailing and the principles of category management are mandatory
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across multiple functions, establish clear work plans, and following projects through to completion.
- High level sales and negotiation skills and high level communication and influencing skills
- Strong administration, problem solving and creative skills
- Strong knowledge and implementation of trading terms and their relationship to a successful business proposal.
- Strong knowledge of the FMCG industry, Grocery Channel, retail trade and market dynamics
- Very strong ability to conceptualise problems and solutions and the application of these skills to the planning and decision making process
